int@j Holds its Fourth Annual Ramadan Iftar

int@j hosted and organized its fourth annual Iftar event at the Sheraton Al-Nabeel Hotel, Rababa Restaurant on November 1st 2005 where most of int@j's members and ICT leaders gathered in a traditional raising awareness of issues that concern the ICT sector.

int@j Holds its Fourth Annual Ramadan Iftar

Under the Patronage of HE. Ms. Nadia Al-Saeed Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Information Technology Association of Jordan - int@j hosted and organized its fourth annual Iftar event at the Sheraton Al-Nabeel Hotel, Rababa Restaurant on November 1st 2005. The event was sponsored by Xpress and co-funded by USAID – AMIR Program. Most of int@j's members and ICT leaders gathered in a traditional raising awareness of issues that concern the ICT sector.

A welcoming speech was given by Mr. Ra'ed Bilbessi, Chairman of int@j who thanked everyone for attending such events that empower the sector and represent the strong partnership between the private and public sector.

The Iftar hosted HE. Mr. Eyad Al-Qudah, Director General of the Income and Sales tax Department in Jordan, aiming at “shedding light” on taxation issues. Mr. Al-Qudah briefed and enlightened attendees with their administrative plan in reviewing and establishing tax payers (sales tax, income tax). He also mentioned that they are to apply the e-filing system for taxes and performing each process electronically.

HE. Ms. Al- Saeed took the stage with Mr. Al- Qudah, where she moderated the session by asking questions about the department future plans and pointed our members problems such as classifications for software houses, tax reform in strengthen the enforcement in unifying the rates, implementation in paying and collecting taxes, lack of clarity and 0 brackets, sales tax on services and the work flow re trend in government e paying (electronic link) for rapidity in customs and airports paperwork's.

Mr. Al-Qudah clarified Sales Tax Department Procedures and Regulations in regard to

 Entertainment Services in terms of taxes.

 Discrimination involving different sectors.

 Fair competition among Mobile Telecommunication companies.

 Added value 10% tax (buying service).

 Merge between the Industry and Trade.

 Determine the concept of industry.

 Exempted software from sales tax.
