Success Story

Mariam Youssef is a 17 year old Palestinian who was struggling to find a job to help support her family. She has always attended local institutes to learn computer basic, accounting, and secretarial skills, all of which were taught in Arabic. After learning about the services provided at the Center for Excellence (CFE), she enrolled in the Business Development and Photoshop courses, hoping that a certificate from Microsoft might enable her to find a job. To further enrich her education, Mariam was simultaneously undergoing training in a factory.Mariam never missed either class and she constantly reported satisfaction with the programs and praise for the trainers, who were always there to answer any of her questions and to push her forward in her learning. Accordingly, she found a job working as a receptionist, handling responsibilities such as preparing receipts for the clients and the accounts. Due to the Business Development subjects she sat through, and since they were given in English, Mariam excelled at her job and she found no difficulty handling the tasks she was given. Being very ambitious, she kept applying to other jobs, searching for something that might enable her to advance and gain better skills; she is now working in a very well known boutique. Since Mariam attended the Photoshop classes and kept developing her skills on her own, even after the classes were over, she was given the responsibility of handling the advertising and preparing the brochures for the boutique, as well as handling the accounts of the store. What is better, Mariam informed us that she has an opportunity working with UNRWA as a computer trainer. She is planning to attend more computer and English courses at the CFE.
