Expotech 2006: The Palestine ICT Exhibition
The exhibition opens its doors to the Palestinian public in Al Bireh for the third year in a row.
The opening of the ExpoTech 2006, organized by the Palestine Information Technology Association (PITA) and Palestine Trade Center (PalTrade), was attended by a crowed of senior officials and representatives of economic organizations, NGOs, civil society organizations, and diplomats.
The opening was held both in Ramallah and Gaza through video conferencing links and with a large crowd at both locations.
Over 250 unique products and technical solutions are expected to occupy the halls of ExpoTech 2006 exhibition. A wide selection of specialized integrated solutions which can be deployed in the development of many sectors of the Palestinian economy.
For the first time in ExpoTech, 7 ICT companies from the Gaza Strip will be able to participate. A specially designed pavilion in the main hall of the exhibition in Al-Bireh is dedicated to the Gaza participants, especially setup broadband links will be utilized to allow the Gaza firms to interact with their counterparts and the exhibition visitors in the West Bank.
ExpoTech in that capacity is in fact bridging Palestine to allow for unification of the local market through technology, ICT diffusion, and overall development of the ICT sector despite physical separation.
In addition the accumulated experience of the previous two installments of ExpoTech, the exhibition is expected to be organized in a sleek, modern, and quite a creative manner.
Exhibiting companies is underway to design the most sophisticated and untraditional booths and product displays. This in return increases the importance of exhibition business for the different economic and production sectors of the Palestinian economy.
The organizers of the exhibition hope it will be a land mark event that will create a competitive environment allowing for exceptional promotion opportunities. The organizers also hope ExpoTech will create a unique opportunity for interaction between the exhibition and the general public, and more specifically with the targeted sectors of the local market.
The experience of ExpoTech will not only enrich the experience and knowledge of the participants, but also prepare them to participate in similar regional and international endeavors.
Mr. Jameel Daher, Chairman of PITA, said "In organizing this event, both PITA and the ICT sector are making an important statement of their commitment to investing and conducting business in Palestine. PITA is crating a technological and creativity monument."
Mr. Daher noted that the participating companies offer a variety of solutions that are sure to meet the needs of wide sectors both locally and internationally.
Mr. Nafez Hirbawi, PalTrade Chairman, affirmed ExpoTech has been proven to be a strategic marketing event is designed and implemented on high international trade show standards.
'ExpoTech's objective,' he added, 'is to create local markets for the ICT sector through the development of local and international ICT solutions and in return increase the competitiveness of all local production sectors.'
On the other hand, the three Platinum sponsors of ExpoTech: Paltel Group, Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC), and Arab Palestinian Investment Company (APIC), see ExpoTech as a great opportunity to create an atmosphere that will affirm the ability of the Palestinian economy to move forward despite setbacks and restrictions.
Dr. Abdul Malik Jaber, CEO of Paltel Group, highlighted the important role Paltel Group plays in the ICT sector development in Palestine. APIC will continue to support all initiatives that aim to strengthen the Palestinian economy. 'I have full trust that this sector will overcome all the difficulties facing investment in Palestine,' he ended.
The CCC representative Mr. Tayseer Othman, stated that the CCC decision to sponsor ExpoTech came as a result of the importance of this exhibition, how it directly contributes in supporting the national economy, and for the dynamic nature of this influential sector in the development of nations around the world especially for the Palestinian people who are suffering from strenuous and harsh conditions.
ExpoTech gold sponsor for 2006 is Hulul Business Solutions, with a generous support from the Islamic Development Bank-Al Aqsa Fund, silver sponsorship by the UNDP's Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (UNDP/PAPP), and the National Insurance Company (NIC) as the Insurance sponsor.
