Amman, February, 2008 – Under the patronage of H.E. Eng. Bassem Rousan, Minister of Information and Communications Technology, the Information Technology Association of Jordan (INT@J) announced today the launch of the “MAP–IT Information Day on Information Society Technologies," which will be held on the 27th of this month at the Grand Hyatt Amman Hotel in Amman, Jordan. This event will be in collaboration with the Union of Arab ICT Associations (IJMA3) and the European Commission's Information Society and Media department.

The MAP-IT Information Day is dedicated to highlighting opportunities for cooperation within the European Union's Framework for programs on Research and Innovation, with special emphasis on the Information Society Technologies component of the program. This program is part of ongoing regional cooperation between the Union of Arab ICT Associations (IJMA3) and European Commission to map the competencies in the Mediterranean region in the ICT arena. It also allows organizations located in Mediterranean countries, including Lebanon, Syria, Palestinian Authority, Jordan Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia, to learn more about funding opportunities provided by the European Union.  This MAP-IT event is expected to expose as many organizations as possible to both the collaboration opportunities with Europe and the benefits that can be derived from participating with program activities.

The MAP-IT workshop will tackle various topics, including the identification of IT Excellence in the Mediterranean region, the 7th Framework Program (FP7), and the Jordan-EU and EU-Mediterranean regional development experience. This event is targeting all ICT stakeholders who are interested in cooperating with the EU.
