3rd e-Government Business Forum

The rapid development of telecommunication systems, networks and information systems has created a vast scope for the development of administrative and financial systems used by governmental agencies. Several countries launched initiatives for e-Government which enabled them to progress into areas out of their geographical domain with limited human resources allowing people access to its services from all over the world.

Due to the importance of implementing the concept of e-Government, the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud, showed great interest in modernizing the various government agencies through his support for the latest communication and information technologies. This in turn will enable implementation of plans to proceed with economic and administrative reformation, and would also help to provide electronic governmental services. These services are bound to benefit the national economy, and would reflect positively by easing and streamlining the day-to-day working of citizens, businesses and investors.

Under the generous sponsorship of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Honorary President of the Saudi Computer Society, King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, the Saudi Computer Society plays a vital role in the field of e-Government which has formed a complete division working on a project on national planning for information technology in e-Government.

In order to boost its role in this regard, the Society held the First Meeting for e-Government in the context of a project on national planning for Information Technology on 24.08.1424 A.H., and held the Second Meeting for e-Government during the period 12-15 Shawwal 1424 A.H., which corresponds to 7-9 December 2003.
