Microsoft Partners with Ministry of Education to Conduct Orientation Sessions in Kuwait
Furthering its commitment to transform Kuwait into a knowledge based society, Microsoft Kuwait delivered an orientation session for teachers from the Ministry of Education (MOE) on Microsoft's new technologies. The orientation session on Microsoft Visual Basic and Web Development offerings, were held for computer science teachers and directors across schools in six provinces that fall under the umbrella of the MOE.

Starting from 2008/2009 academic year, Microsoft technologies have been integrated into the curriculum, where Visual Basic Express is being taught across all high schools in the country. The sessions also aim to encourage students to become computer science majors and pursue ICT related careers.
The event was organized by Umm Al Hyman School, in the Al Ahmadiunbelievableunbelievableunbelievable district. This is the second event the school has organized in an effort to ensure proper training for teachers and to increase their knowledge in turn helping their students develop their computer skills.
Commenting on the training initiative, Mahmoud Hammoud Al Zahmoul, Director, Ahmadi Education Area said, "This initiative is aligned with the national ICT strategy that aims to transform Kuwait into a successful knowledge-based society. Putting technology to work for people throughout the country will enable us to strengthen our economy and create greater opportunities for young people to fulfill their dreams. We value Microsoft's support as we take positive steps towards becoming a truly digital society."
Mohamed Al Tura, Public Sector Lead, Microsoft Kuwait added, "The training initiative reflects Microsoft's long-term commitment to collaborating with academic institutions and private sector organizations in Kuwait to contribute to socio-economic development and accelerate the
evolution of a knowledge-based society. To compete successfully in the global marketplace, countries must invest in building a workforce that has the right technical skills and knowledge. We welcome the opportunity to work with the Ministry of Education that is using information technology to help provide new jobs and opportunities for its citizens. Together, we aim to empower youth across the country through IT skills development that will enable them to compete in today's global economy."
The initiative also encourages teachers, staff and students to use ICT to improve the learning process and also includes programs to help provide cost effective software and learning resources for communities throughout Kuwait, as Microsoft continues to work closely with the government in Kuwait to help create a favorable environment for the development of the local software and technology industry.
