This meeting includes representatives from each of the member countries(Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Tunisia and Iraq) who represent the IT industry, the civil society organization sector and the private sector.
The first regional meeting in Beirut saw the establishment of The Arab Internet Freedom Coalition. This Arab coalition will advocate for uninterruptable, affordable, reliable and free internet in the Arab countries, and will raise awareness about this aim.
The objective of this 2nd regional meeting is to discuss the action plan for each of the coalitions and what has been achieved so far, as well as discussing the way forward with respect to the Internet situation and challenges in the Arab countries. The meeting will also focus on establishing and formalizing the national coalitions’ structure and requirements. The meeting will also address and tackle the social media plan and related activities for raising awareness on our right to freely access the internet. During the meeting, different ideas will also be shared on the best way to disseminate the short video campaign “Haquna”.
