Lessons in IT skills for Women Entrepreneurs
Manama
Bahraini businesswomen learnt about the benefits of using information technology as a tool to develop their enterprises when they attended a workshop in Manama.
The workshop focused on the development of technical information available to women and how they can make optimal use of information technology in all areas of their daily lives.
It covered the basics of using computers and the Internet and provided an introduction to the electronic commerce and electronic market.
The presentation also outlined steps on how to set up an e-commerce website, ways of shopping and attracting customers and the risks and challenges.
The workshop was conducted by IT expert Noor Al Baqqali and Elaf Capital Investment managing director and Gulf Future Business chief executive officer Ahmed Al Hujairy.
It was organised by the Bahrain Businesswomen's Society in co-operation with the Bahrain Internet Society and Bahrain ICT Suppliers Trade Association and held at the old Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry building.
The workshop is the fifth event of the Speakers Bureau Programme 2010, which consists of eight events, ranging from small-scale workshops to major conferences.
It is part of the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) Businesswomen's Network programme, held in various Mena countries, organised by the Middle East Partnership Initiative of the US Department of the State and co-ordinated by Vital Voices.
The objective of the programme is to empower the businesswomen in the Mena region by building the capacities of the organisations that serve them by establishing a region-wide network.
