TRA seeking vendor for key services

Bahrain's Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) is seeking a vendor to implement, host and maintain an online telecommunications services tariffs comparator.

Through this RFP, the TRA aims to identify and contract a supplier that can deliver a solution for an interactive tariff comparator system that can be made available to and used by the public.

The interactive tariff comparator will be a web-based comparison tool designed and constructed to specifically compare the prices of alternative telecommunications services solutions offered within Bahrain.

Ideally it will be a tried and tested solution that protects the integrity of the data and the accuracy of the results.

The solution will be independent and fair in its calculations and methods, the TRA said.

'As the telecommunications market develops through the competitive supply of services the number of alternative supply choices and the complexity of those choices increases,' said TRA director of communications Basil Al Arrayed.

'This is further exacerbated by the introduction of number portability and the convergence of telecommunications with other information and communications media.

'An increasing requirement to provide all users with an appropriate tool that will allow structured impartial comparisons of these choices must be addressed,' he said.

'By launching this tender, the TRA intends to develop and implement an online interactive comparison tool that will assist consumers and businesses to compare the cost of mobile telephony, fixed telephony and broadband price plans offered by each of Bahrain's licensed services providers,' he added.
