ictQATAR Recognizes Top e-Learning Organizations

The Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology (ictQATAR) honored three organizations in Qatar that have made e-learning a top priority for their employees.

Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Doha Bank and Qatar Petroleum were recognized for their successful integration of courses offered on the Qatar National e-Learning Portal into their employment development plans, with HMC recognized as the top organization. Omar Sweiss, Training Manager at Hamad Medical Corporation was also honored for his leadership in implementing e-Learning in his organization.

"Organizations in Qatar are reaping the benefits of providing e-Learning courses to their employees. E-Learning is a cost effective way to enhance employees' skills and promote a culture of lifelong learning in an organization. It provides a tangible return on investment for organizations, while helping employees remain on the cutting-edge of their profession. The three organizations honored today show tremendous forward-thinking in taking full advantage of the offering on the Qatar National e-Learning Portal. I especially congratulate Omar for his collaborative approach to integrating e-Learning into his organization's training and staff development efforts," said Ali Al-Kuwari, Assistant Secretary General, ictQATAR.

The Qatar National e-Learning Portal provides online courses, covering a range of topics in information technology and business. It offers more than 2,500 different courses and allows for flexible learning. Already, 24 organizations and 37 small and medium businesses in Qatar are taking advantage of the e-Learning Portal, with more than 4,000 courses successfully completed to date.

"We have found that successful adoption of e-Learning in organizations requires close collaboration with the training managers. They are the ones that know their employees and their employees' needs. By working directly with the training managers, we have seen a significant increase in the number of courses taken and major improvements in alignment with employee professional development plans," said Reem Al-Mansouri, Digital Inclusion Manager at ictQATAR.

In addition to honoring the organizations and top training manager, ictQATAR presented its plans for continued growth of the National e-Learning Portal and encouraged more organizations to begin taking advantage of it. The event was attended by approximately 75 senior managers, HR executives and HR training managers from a variety of organizations
