IJMA3 holds Best Content Competition for local governments in Iraq

As a part of its development efforts, IJMA3 held a competition for Maysan Province local councils web portal (that was established in 2011 by IJMA3). This project comes as a new step on the development road IJMA3 is taking toward harnessing ICT in all critical sectors including governance.

Funded by The United States Agency for International Development (USAID)and cooperation with other organizations, and implemented by IJMA3 in Iraq, this project aims to empower and strengthen the local governments in the sub-urban areas of Maysan province, southern Iraq. After finishing the portal development www.maysancouncils.org , IJMA3 has held an intensive training courses for the staff of the councils on web-mastering and management for their sections in the portal, and in order to maximize the engagement of the staff and webmasters into this relatively new media channel, IJMA3 Iraq team held a competition for the best content of the 15 different councils that are included in this portal. The first prize winning council was Kalat Salih, while Al Mijar coucnil has won the second prize and the third prize went to Al Salam council.

After the distribution of the prizes, IJMA3 coordinators explained to the councils that the purpose of this competition is to maximize the content generation and posting efforts and build a systematic habits inside the councils of regular postings and updates on their sections within the portal.
