Du doubles 4G LTE footprint in 2013

Dubai: Du on Wednesday said that it has increased its 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) footprint by more than double and also doubled the original radio capacity to accommodate the significant increase in the mobile data traffic.

The telecom operator launched its 4G network in June 2012.

“Telecom customers are increasingly becoming data-savvy and an integral part of their lifestyle is our world-class 4G LTE network — it is at the heart of what we do. Speed, high quality, and reliability are three virtues that we believe in when it comes to network coverage,” said Saleem Al Beloushi, executive vice-president — network development and operations at du.

Du’s investments in its 3G and 2G network capabilities have resulted in an increase of its radio network capacity significantly by 60 per cent. It is continuously investing and aggressively increasing its indoor coverage solutions as well as in expanding the mobile backhaul capacity which more than doubled last year as well.

User experience

He said our team is always working — investing time and resources in building state-of-the- art indoor and outdoor network features that enables a superb user experience, irrespective of wherever customers are located in the UAE.

“Work is currently ongoing in expanding its network capacity by deploying an additional third carrier for its 3G network to further accommodate even more users moving forward. The addition of HD (high definition) voice is a unique facility that offers crystal clear telephonic conversations on latest smartphones,” he said.
