The move comes in line with continuous directives of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to upgrade the government work system. The initiative aims to create a single-window system that will allow people seamless access to all government services.

Sheikh Hamdan launched emirate's new 2021 Initiative during a three-day Government Summit that opened in Dubai on Monday. The initiative was demonstrated by a video showing residents of Dubai going about their daily lives seven years from now with many of them wearing a smart wrist band to communicate with the government.

"Today we set our goals for the govt. of Dubai in 2021, as we march confidently towards the future and new horizons," he said.

He explained that in the future government there will not be multiple departments and agencies. The government, he said, will work as one unity: "one ID, one phone number, one centre & one employee." "It's now time to use our skills and expertise to show what this government can offer, not just to Dubai, but also to the world," he added.

He expressed confidence in the leadership and staff of the Dubai government to meet the 2021 target "We should all work as one, the strong supporting the weak, as we look towards 2021 when everyone will witness the arrival of Dubai govt," Sheikh Hamdan said. .

The plan for Dubai 2021 comes after Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, launched a Smart Government initiative.

Sheikh Hamdan said, "We're confident in the ability of leadership and staff of Dubai government to reach targets on time, always dedicated to working for the public good. It's now time to use our skills and expertise to show what this government can offer, not just to Dubai, but also to the world."
