RO 73.038 Million Omantel profit for the first half

Omanel has reported a sizable profit for the first half of its fiscal year.

Oman Telecommunications Company SAOG (Omantel) announced on Tuesday 4th August 2009 a Net Profit after Tax (excluding minority interest) of RO 73.038 Mn during the first half of the year 2009 compared to the Net Profit after Tax of RO 74.777 Mn for the corresponding period of year 2008, a decline of 2 %. The source of the company said: The total group revenue as of June'09 decline by 1 % to RO 198.497 million compared to RO 201.080 Mn of the corresponding period of the previous year. The source added that the operating expenses increased by 1 % to RO 119.932 Mn compared to RO 118.391 Mn for the same period of last year. It is worth noting that these figures are initial un-audited results and are subject to approval by Omantel Board of Directors. Omantel will disclose the final financial results within the statutory period as stipulated by CMA.
