The World Bank has offered a USD 30 billion loan to Mauritania to support the second phase of the country's contribution to the West African regional telecom deployment programme, Agence Ecofin reports. This work, the extension of an undersea cable, was completed last year. The overall project envisages connecting regional capitals a number of county seats by fibre optic cable, improving call and data exchange quality, lower prices and an increase in ICT employment opportunities.
