Moroccan telecom regulator ANRT expects to publish a tender for 4G licences in the first quarter of 2014 and to award them before the start of the second quarter, ANRT director Azdine El Mountassir Billah said in an interview reported by Agence Ecofin. El Mountassir Billah explained that the agency was concluding a study to help set 4G licensing terms, which then have to be approved by its administrative council. "As with other licences, 4G operators will be given time to build their networks. In light of these elements, we think the commercial launch will be possible the following year", he said. Mobile is a crucial part of Morocco's high speed internet strategy, which also includes outdoor Wi-Fi and pilot fibre projects. Referring to ANRT's work this year, the director said its three priorities were infrastructure sharing, national roaming costs, and customer contracts.
