Tunisian parliament OK’s “Tunis Telecom City” mega- project

The Chamber of Deputies has approved on Tuesday the draft bill authorizing the State to honor its engagements with Bahrein’s “Vision 3 Alliance”, a consortium composed of Gulf Finance House, Ithmaar Bank and Abu Dhabi Investment House, for the realization of “Tunis Telecom City” project at Kallat Landalous, near Tunis.
The project which is one of the country’s most ambitious mega-projects is estimated at 3 billion dollars and will host an international telecommunications university, an international bourse of communication, a free exchange zone, as well as multimedia technological development pole.
Several fiscal advantages will be offered to the promoters, as well as other specific advantages to benefit offshore companies operating on the site.
The project is also expected to generate some 11,000 employments for university graduates, and another 25,000 employments in a post development phase.
It will also reinforce the technological competitiveness of the Tunisian economy, which in the years ahead will be the main yardstick to measure up the competitiveness of countries around the world.
Thanks to its favourable business climate Tunisia is fast becoming a magnet for multinationals specialised in promising and innovative sectors.
